A review of the poster the AG-ACt team presented at the Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum (CKF)<\/a> in July 2026<\/h3>

How can knowledge mobilization (KMb) become core infrastructure in large-scale research investments\u2014not just a final stage activity?<\/span><\/h5>

This case study explores how the Agricultural Genomics Action Centre (AG-ACt) was intentionally designed as a portfolio-level KMb hub for the Climate-Smart Agriculture & Food Systems (CSAFS) research initiative.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why a Portfolio-Level Hub Matters<\/h3>

AG-ACt was funded by Genome Canada and operates across four partner institutions: the Universit\u00e9 de Guelph<\/a>, Universit\u00e9 Simon Fraser<\/a>, the Global Institute for Food and Security (GIFS)<\/a>, and the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al<\/a>, to support nine research teams working across climate-smart agricultural genomics.<\/p>

Rather than functioning like a traditional communications unit, AG-ACt provides dedicated capacity to connect research teams, foster collaboration, build KMb skills, and accelerate the uptake of research. The partnership model brings together expertise across institutions while creating shared approaches, resources, and opportunities for portfolio-wide learning.<\/p>

What the Poster Showcases<\/h3>

Originally developed for the CKF, the poster highlights AG-ACt’s:<\/p>

  • Governance structure \u2013 how the hub is structured across institutions<\/p><\/li>

  • Coordination mechanisms \u2013 the system that keeps the CSAFS portfolio aligned<\/li>
  • Early lessons \u2013 insights from establishing a national, pan-Canadian KMb hub<\/li><\/ul>

    It underscores the value of investing in KMb from the outset, building collaborative relationships across institutions and disciplines, and creating intentional opportunities for knowledge exchange and collective impact.<\/p>

    The poster offers insight and a practical model for funders, researchers, and knowledge mobilization practitioners interested in strengthening impact through coordinated, portfolio-level approaches. It shows how early, intentional KMb design can reshape a research ecosystem in the long run\u2014not just individual research projects.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
